Engineering Services closely monitors growth and traffic patterns. Several non-signalized intersections are studied on a yearly basis and road segments are monitored for traffic volume. This is to ensure that residents have a safe and efficient road network and that intersections have proper signals installed when warranted.
Traffic volumes are an important part of road improvements and future planning of Airdrie's road network. Engineering Services conducts approximately 40 traffic volume studies each year. This information is used to monitor growth and traffic patterns.
There is one new traffic signal budgeted for 2020 at the intersection of 8th Street and Luxstone Landing/Bayside Drive N.
The City continues to monitor several intersections for potential traffic signals. Should a traffic signal be warranted at any of these locations, the City will budget for, and construct a traffic signal.
