The City of Airdrie and the Airdrie Board of Youth Affairs selected two winners in the 2019 Mayor for a Day Contest, in both the middle and high school categories.
Congratulations goes to Paige Blumhagen and Hannah Jansen!
Middle School Winner: Paige Blumhagen
School: CW Perry
Challenge: In the winter months it is dark in the morning walking to school and from after school activities.
Idea: To put street lights on the path at Monkland’s Soccer field in the Canals. This idea will help children walk safely on the path to CW Perry and Ralph McCall schools.
High School Winner: Hannah Jensen
Challenge: Non-profit organizations in Airdrie do not have adequate space to meet their needs.
Idea: Is to have a building in Airdrie for non-profit organizations, such as all of the Cadet Core (air, army, navy and navy league) as well as Girl Guides, 1st Airdrie Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Ventures. This building would have many multipurpose rooms as well as a big area for the Cadets to Parade.
Both Paige and Hannah received a prize and will get to spend a day as the Mayor!
