City launches new website

Airdrie, AB – New. Fresh. Easy. Check out the new, an informative way to navigate and connect with the City.

The City’s new website providers users up-to-date information, served up through a navigation designed to accommodate who they are or what they are trying to do. Users can navigate the site based on the type of user they are – business, resident or visitor – or using the ‘I want to’ navigation, which highlights the most commonly searched items. Users also have the option of using the Google search function to find the information they require.

“The new website is a significant step towards achieving Council’s strategic goal of providing focused customer service,” explained city manager Paul Schulz. “By increasing our web-based options, we are enabling our citizens and business owners to conduct their business needs with the City when it is convenient for them.”

Some key features of the new site include:

Community events calendar: Users can submit their event to the community events calendar, a local guide to what’s happening in Airdrie.

Picture it Airdrie: Professional and amateur photographers are invited to demonstrate their point of view by joining the AirdriePhoto Flickr group and showing off their favorites Airdrie images. Photos submitted between February 4 and March 29 will be entered into a draw for tickets to a Bert Church Live Theatre production.

Recreational schedules: Genesis Place users will benefit from the new schedules functionality, which allows them to view swim times, dry land or aquatic fitness classes in an easy to use calendar format. Schedules will be updated daily to reflect any closures or cancellations, ensuring facility users stay in the know.

“The new website is the City’s first step towards offering a wider range of online government services,” added Data Services team leader Corey Halford. “We have built in the functionality for citizens to complete and submit forms online, view Transit schedules or contact specific departments through a ‘Send us a message’ feature. The next phase of the project will see the addition of e-commerce functionality.”

The City is looking for feedback. Users are encouraged to visit the site and complete a survey, providing their feedback on the site. Respondents who complete the survey before April 30 will be entered into a draw for tickets to a Bert Church Live Theatre performance.
