AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Thursday, March 14 at 17:19 hours, the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a working structure fire at 95 Emberdale Way SE.
On arrival, light smoke was showing from the basement level of a residential bungalow. Firefighters removed one patient from the home suffering from minor smoke inhalation and transferred care to Alberta Health Services paramedics.
Fire crews quickly brought the incident under control with minimal damage to structure and contents. Once the fire had been extinguished firefighters ventilated the home and monitored air quality. Later in the evening residents were allowed back into the home
The AFD Fire Investigator has determined the cause of the fire as a pot left unattended on stove. Kitchen fires remain one of the leading causes of fires in the home and the Airdrie Fire Department reminds the public of the importance of being attentive and safe while cooking. Never leave the stove or oven unattended when in use.
There were four AFD apparatus and 12 firefighters on scene.
