City sweeps away signs without permits

April 8, 2013 / For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie is advising business owners and residents that signs without permits on city or public property will be removed as part of the annual spring street sweeping program.

“Public works crews will begin sweeping the road right of ways, boulevards and medians along the main roads in Airdrie next week, weather permitting.” says Mike Avramenko, Team Leader, Roads. “Help us to do a clean sweep of Airdrie.”

“If you have placed a sign without a permit on city or public property, please remove it,” says Kari Major, Planning Technician. “Please contact the planning department for information and a permit before putting up a sign.”

The City of Airdrie removes signs placed without a permit on a year round basis. Residents and business owners can ensure their sign is compliant and obtain permits by visiting Airdrie.ca or calling the Planning department at 403-948-8848.

Street sweeping in residential areas is set to begin at the end of April, weather permitting. Any street sweeping inquiries can be made to Public Works at 403-948-8415.
