Off-leash dog areas

The City of Airdrie has two off-leash areas and five dog parks.

Off-leash area: A designated space where dogs are allowed to be off leash. These areas may be partially enclosed or completely open and are often located along regional pathways that are shared with other users.

Dog park: A fully enclosed area intended primarily for off-leash dog walking and exercise.

 General rules of use: 

  1. Pet owners must clean up after their pets and keep them in control at all times - on- or off-leash.
  2. City owned off-leash parks are open to everyone; exclusive use is not allowed. 
  3. Dogs must not be left unattended.
  4. Aggressive, sick, in-season or declared vicious dogs are prohibited. 
  5. A maximum of six dogs per person is allowed.

Pet memorialization

NEW - A pet memorial fence has been installed at the King's Heights off leash park.

Pet owners who have lost a beloved four-legged friend may place their pet's collar or tag on the free-standing fence located at the south west portion of the park.

This is currently a pilot project offered at this location only.

Kings Heights Off Leash Pet Memorial

Airdrie Festival of Lights Society off-leash park (Nose Creek Park)

Fully fenced-in area on the south side of Nose Creek Park. The area consists of two sections. Parking is available on the east side of the enclosed area.

A portion or all of the Airdrie Festival of Lights Society Off Leash Park may periodically be used as overflow parking when large events are held in Nose Creek Park. These events may include, the Festival of Lights, the annual Show & Shine and any other large function which may be supported by the City.

2025 events 

August 9: The entire off-leash park will be closed to accommodate parking for the Time Traveller's Car Club and the Nose Creek Valley Museum Boot Sale. 

Sept. 13: The north portion of the off-leash park will be closed to accommodate parking for Peace in the Park. Dog owners may use the south portion for off-leash activity. 

Big Springs off-leash area

There is a partially fenced in area located on the pathway south of the cemetery to Spring Haven Crescent. This area is fenced between the QEII Highway and runs along the backyard residential area.

Chinook Winds dog park

There is a fully fenced-in area located north of the baseball diamonds at Chinook Winds Park. Parking is available off of Chinook Winds Drive at the spray park as well as Chinook Gate Dr./ Chinook Winds View.

East Lake dog park (small dogs)

Fully fenced-in area designed for small dogs (recommended for dogs under 30lbs). Parking is available on the west side of the enclosed area.

King's Heights dog park

Fully fenced-in area with a storm water pond, surrounded by chain link fence; located at Sharp Hill Way and Kingsview Road. Only accessible from the north gate off Kingsview Road. 

South Point dog park.

The South Point dog park is split into two sections, the north portion is dedicated for all dogs and the south portion is for small dogs (max. 30 lbs).

This is a fully fenced in area located along South Point Park between South Point Green and South Point View. 

Summerhill off-leash area

There is a partially fenced-in area located along the pathway south of third avenue to Sandstone Crescent between the residential area and QEII.
