Route 900 Temporary Routing

Starting April 27, 2020, Route 900 will move from Main Street to 8 Street as Main Street will be closed for construction.

Service Changes

Physical Distancing

About half of the seats on our buses are blocked off with signage to promote physical distancing. We encourage our customers to only sit in unmarked seats. Please keep two metres distance from fellow passengers. If a bus does reach capacity, please wait for the next bus.

The use of face coverings are not mandatory but they are recommended by the Chief Medical Officer of Alberta to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We're working hard to thoroughly clean all of our vehicles, to ensure we are providing safe transportation for our customers. We have enhanced cleaning and sanitization on all buses.

Rear Door Boarding

We have implemented rear door boarding on our big buses to further protect our bus operators.

Thank you for your patience as we try to keep our City safe!

Starting April 6, the downtown ICE routes (901 & 902), and local city routes (1 & 3) will be suspended until further notice.

Here’s what transit customers can expect:

Transit passes and user fees Starting April 1, there will be no charge to use transit services. Any passes purchased for April will be refunded for the full amount. Please call 403.948.8875 or email to initiate a refund request.

Welcome to Airdrie Transit

Many customers have taken proactive measures and reduced their travel requirements using Airdrie Transit. This shift in customer use has significantly decreased our ridership as everyone is doing his or her part to implement social distancing in response to COVID-19.

As a result, we will be readjusting our services to align with the demands of customers while still meeting the basic transit needs of our residents.

We understand that limiting transit use is not possible for all residents, so we encourage customers to consider the following:

• If you are feeling unwell, please stay home and avoid public activities.
• Please try to leave space between yourself and other customers.
• If you sneeze or cough, please cover your mouth using your arm.
• Wash your hands frequently; including any opportunities before you board any city bus.
• Please avoid any direct close interactions with others, including bus drivers. Bus drivers will not be handling any tickets directly.

We are staying up-to-date with the recommendations and direction from the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services. We will continue to update our customers with new information regarding Airdrie Transit use when it becomes available.

Thank you again for your understanding and patience during this challenging time. For information on the City’s response to COVID-19, please visit our Emergency Management page in response to COVID-19.
