ACCESS Airdrie (paratransit service)

ACCESS Airdrie is a shared ride, curb-to-curb, paratransit service for eligible Airdrie residents that are unable to use fixed route services. Customers must apply and be approved to use this service. 

ACCESS Airdrie offers two different services:

  1. Local trips to locations within Airdrie city limits
  2. Trips to Calgary for specialized medical appointments

Hours of service:

  • Monday to Friday: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Application and approval

Customers wishing to use this service must apply and be approved before booking a trip. For more information and to see if you are eligible, review our paratransit information guide (pdf).

To apply for paratransit services, complete and submit the ACCESS Airdrie application form. A health care professional will be required to fill out a portion of the application. Once complete, submit your application by:

Bookings and fares

Book your trip

Once your application has been approved, you can book your trip by calling Airdrie Transit at 403.948.8875 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Paratransit service is a “shared-ride” public transit system designed to help serve multiple people at the same time. Please be prepared to be flexible when requesting service and we will do our best to accommodate your request.


Service fares

All ACCESS Airdrie trips require a fare payment.

Local trips within Airdrie  Specialized medical Trips in Calgary
Same as local rates

One-Way Fare: $30.50
Customers will receive an invoice from the City of Airdrie and are not required to pay the driver directly.


Transit subsidy

The City of Airdrie offers a transit subsidy to reduce financial barriers for eligible, low income residents called the Airdrie Fair Access program.

Code of Conduct

To maintain a safe, respectful, and comfortable environment for all individuals using ACCESS Airdrie, clients are required to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct at all times. Prohibited behaviours include physical aggression, disruptive or unsafe actions, shouting, vulgar or offensive language, verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, and any form of threat directed toward drivers, administrative staff, or other customers. Clients must also maintain an acceptable standard of personal hygiene to support the health and comfort of all passengers and staff. ACCESS Airdrie reserves the right to suspend or permanently revoke a client’s eligibility for service based on the severity or recurrence of any prohibited behaviour.
