AIRDRIE, AB – The City of Airdrie’s Department of Social Planning and the Airdrie Board of Youth Affairs (ABYA) are excited to announce the launch of the Airdrie Youth Grant Program – an initiative designed to empower youth ages 12 – 18 to implement impactful projects in Airdrie. This initiative builds on the success of the Mayor for a Day program, which has traditionally been open to Grade 6 students in Airdrie.
The Airdrie Youth Grant Program will offer two macro grants of $1500 and three micro grants of $300, distributed across three different periods to selected applicants who have great ideas that benefit young people in the Airdrie community.
“We are thrilled to launch the Airdrie Youth Grant Program, which provides a unique opportunity for young people in Airdrie to bring their innovative ideas to life,” says Jessica Dudek, youth engagement liaison. “By empowering youth to lead and implement projects that benefit their peers, we are fostering a sense of community and encouraging the next generation of leaders. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects will have on our city.”
While the Airdrie Board of Youth Affairs will select the successful applicants, Youth Central, a Calgary-based organization dedicated to empowering youth through leadership and volunteer opportunities, will manage the application intake and fund distribution process. Youth interested in participating can submit their proposals through the Youth Central at youthcentral.com/grants.
Next application deadline: April 14, 2025
