To prepare complete, accurate and equitable property assessments, re-inspections are done annually.
Residential properties in Airdrie may be sent a residential property verification form if the property has not been reviewed within the past five years. This form may also be completed at any time if the homeowner feels there is an error in their property information.
Annually, all non-residential, multi-residential and farmland properties are sent a request for information form to submit.
Section 295 of the Municipal Government Act states that a property owner is required to provide any information requested by an assessor. If the information is not provided within 60 days from the date requested, the property owner may not file a complaint about their assessment.
Under section 2(1) of the Provincial Regulation Matters Relating to Assessment and Taxation Alberta Regulation 203/2017 (the Regulation) land is to be assessed at its market value, unless it is used for a "Farming Operation" which is defined in section 2(1)(f) of the Regulation as:

If land is used for a "farming operation" then the valuation standard is "agricultural use value" which is defined in Section 1(b) of the regulation as: "Agricultural use value" means the value of a parcel of land based exclusively on its use for farming operations.
