Noise exemptions
Noise exemptions can be requested for an exemption from the noise control provisions of Community Standards Bylaw (PDF). Eligible exemptions are outlined in Section 4.23 (Exceptions) of the Bylaw.
Noise exemptions are granted only when deemed necessary by the City of Airdrie and are generally considered for:
- Construction activities
- Community festivals and events
- Snow-clearing operations
Application guidelines and requirements
- To allow sufficient processing time, applicants are encouraged to submit their noise exemption permit application at least five business days before the activity begins.
- Noise exemptions will not be approved for residential parties, gatherings, or similar private events.
- Applicants must outline the noise mitigation measures that will be used to minimize impacts on nearby residents. Applications that do not include adequate mitigation strategies may be denied.
- Once a decision has been made, applicants will be notified by email and will either receive their permit or the reason their request was denied.
- There is no fee to apply for or obtain a noise exemption permit.
