Animal licences

If you own a cat or a dog in Airdrie, you are required to purchase an animal licence. If your pet is ever lost, having a licence will help us get them back to you as soon as possible.

Cats and dogs over three months of age require a licence. Licences are valid for one year from the date of purchase and must be renewed annually.

Purchase animal licenCe

Animal licences can also be purchased in person at City Hall or the Municipal Police Building. 

When you purchase an animal licence, you will receive a tag that must be worn by your cat or dog.

Dog licence fees

• $77 annually for an unspayed or unneutered dog.
• $47 annually for a spayed or neutered dog. Supporting veterinarian documentation is required.
• $250 annually for a vicious dog. Supporting veterinarian documentation is required.
• No charge for service dogs or dogs that are being fostered.

Cat licence fees

• $57 annually for an unspayed or unneutered cat.
• $29 annually for a spayed or neutered cat. Supporting veterinarian documentation is required.
• No charge for cats that are being fostered.

At a cost of $10, you can purchase a replacement tag for your cat or dog through your myAIRDRIE account in the Animal Licenses service.

Replacement tags can also be ordered and purchased at City Hall or the Municipal Police Building.
