Cemetery features
Established in the early 1900s, the Airdrie Cemetery spans approximately five acres of beautifully manicured grounds, providing a serene environment for families.

The cemetery provides traditional burial lots, cremation burial lots, a Field of Honour section dedicated to veterans and four columbaria for cremation urns.

The City of Airdrie Parks department maintains the city cemetery and manages lot purchases and burial schedules.

Families can purchase cemetery lots and columbaria niches in advance, allowing for thoughtful pre-need planning.

Casket burials

We offer single depth burial lots that accommodate one casket interment. Up to eight cremation urns may be added depending on the size of the lot as well as the size of the urns. 

72 hours notice is required before the scheduled burial service is to take place. Some exceptions may be accommodated depending on circumstances.

Cremation burials

Our in-ground cremation section offers lots that can accommodate up to four standard-sized urns or two companion urns per lot.

A columbarium is a structure designed to hold cremation urns in individual niches. The four columbaria at the Airdrie cemetery are round dome units and have granite tablets which are constructed of 3/4" natural black granite slabs that may be engraved to reflect your family's wishes. Each niche can accommodate up to two standard-sized urns.

These niches provide a meaningful place for family and friends to gather and pay their respects. 

Lot owners may place a headstone at any time, before, or after a burial takes place. 

A monument permit is required for all new monuments, headstones, and footmarkers placed at a grave.

Funeral benefits may be available to help pay for funeral arrangements. The City of Airdrie is pleased to accommodate those who have received approval for this benefit. The family must apply for these benefits at alberta.ca/funeral-benefits.
