Rain barrels

Rain barrels can be purchased for:

• Airdrie residents ($66) 
• Non-Airdrie residents ($76)
• Rain barrels are blue or white. Colour choice is on a first-come first-served basis and is not guaranteed. 
• All sales are considered final.

After orders are placed, rain barrels can be picked up from the Waste and Recycling building (21 East Lake Hill NE)

• Wednesday to Sunday (excluding holidays) between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

• Parking is available in the Recycle Depot yard, near the office 

• Bring your email confirmation with you to pick up your order (paper or electronic version)

• Locally sourced and made with repurposed food-grade material, making them more environmentally friendly than store-bought barrels made with virgin plastic
• 55 gallons
• Approximate dimensions: 22.5" wide x 37" tall
• Blue or white and have a tap and an overflow valve to drain excess water
• Closed top with a screen that covers the hole for the downspout

An average roof in Airdrie collects approximately 24,000 litres of rain annually-this could fill a rain barrel 96 times!

Capturing stormwater at home helps reduce water flow back to our rivers, reducing the flow of contaminants and supporting flood mitigation efforts. Using a rain barrel also means less water needs treatment, which reduces the demand for water treatment facilities. In the end, it saves Airdrie residents money.
