Non-resident (out-of-town) business Businesses located outside Airdrie city limits that are operating/conducting business in Airdrie.
Temporary business A temporary business operating for less than 72 hours.
Professional business Many professionals are exempt from paying for a City of Airdrie business licence. All professionals are encouraged to apply for a no-fee City of Airdrie professional business registration. See below for a listing of exempt professionals.

Business licences are renewed annually in December of each year. Fees (excluding temporary businesses) are pro-rated to half the fee on July 1.

Health Professions Act Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technicians, Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, Dental Technologists, Dentists, Denturists, Hearing Aid Practitioners, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists, Midwives, Naturopaths (doctors registered with the College of Naturopath Doctors of Alberta), Occupational Therapists, Opticians, Optometrists, Paramedics, Pharmacists, Physical Therapists, Physicians, Surgeons and Osteopaths, Podiatrists, Psychologists, Registered Dietitians and Registered, Nutritionists, Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric and Mental, Deficiency Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

Other professions As stated in the Business License Bylaw, if your profession is not on this list, the onus is on the individual/professional corporation to provide proof of exemption to the City of Airdrie.
