Utility Master Plan

The Utility Master Plan (UMP) details the City of Airdrie's long-term water and wastewater servicing strategy. Originally published in 2016, the UMP details how the City plans to meet the strategic and sustainability goals of the Airdrie City Plan, while addressing the needs of the existing and future systems under key milestone scenarios.

The 2025 update to the UMP focuses on identifying what water distribution and wastewater collection systems will be required to meet servicing needs through build out of the 2012 annexation area. The 2025 UMP makes projections for the 110,000 (2030), 144,000 (2040), 200,000 (2065) and 265,000 (2090) population horizons.

Findings and recomendations outlined in this plan reflect the City's continued growth as it crosses the 90,000 person population threshold. In the coming years, major infrastructure investments will be needed from other levels of government in order to keep pace with growth. The UMP identifies those future needs and projects what is required to accommodate future growth and help Airdrie thrive.
