Before applying for the Airdrie Fair Access Program (AFA) subsidy, read each step carefully. This application is used for multiple subsidy programs.
AFA applications are processed by Community Links. Applicants are required to provide proof of residency and income criteria. Before applying, review eligibility and requirements, or contact Community Links at 403.945.3900 or through airdriefairaccess@nrvcl.ab.ca.
Community Links may also be able to suggest additional financial supports for you and your family.
Eligibility is determined based on the combined income of all adult members of the household, and the total number of members in the household. Your total income can be found on your Notice of (Tax) Assessment on line 15000. If the combined total income amounts for all adult household members falls within the eligibility thresholds listed above, you may be eligible for AFA.

If you are sending documents via mail, fax or dropping them off, send copies of your supporting documents (income, residency identification), do not include originals.
When your application is processed, your income will be assessed to determine if you meet the income requirement for these programs and what level of subsidy you qualify for.
Community Links will contact you letting you know if you qualify for these programs based on your income. This notification (usually about two weeks from the time your application is received) will tell you what to do next. If you qualify, your card will be issued by mail or may be picked up at Community Links.
The standard AFA qualification terms are one year. Once the one-year period ends, you must re-apply with all required documents.
Residents who receive Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) or seniors who receive the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from the Government of Canada qualify for two-year terms and must reapply at the end of their term.
