Becoming an election worker

Hiring for the the next General Election will start in in summer 2025.

Election worker duties may include:

  • Voting station set up
  • Helping voters with the voting process
  • Providing information to the public
  • Taking down the voting station
  • Counting ballots

Election workers must be eligible to work in Canada. You do not have to be a Canadian citizen to apply.

Roles and responsibilities

Detailed information outlining exact roles and responsibilities for election workers will be posted at a later date. 


Preparation for the day

Election Workers cannot leave the voting station for any reason. Please bring:

  • Water/beverages - enough to last you the entire shift
  • Food/snacks - enough to last the entire shift (there may not be any kitchen facilities at your voting station)
  • Clothing – dress in layers, and ensure you are comfortable
  • Footwear – wear comfortable footwear
  • Medication

Positions will be filled as applications are received so we encourage interested applicants to check back often when the application process opens. 

Only successful candidates will be contacted and phone screenings will be conducted to confirm suitability and availability.
