Proclamations and City Hall illumination requests

Proclamations and City Hall illuminations are ceremonial ways for the City to honour, celebrate, or create awareness of an event, person, or significant issue within the community; these are guided by our Community Requests Policy.

Council has made the following proclamations:

May 2024 as Guillain-Barré Syndrome/Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy Awareness month in Airdrie to educate the public and to focus attention on these rare neurological conditions;

May 6 to 10, 2024 as Economic Development Week in Airdrie to recognize the important role economic development and economic developers have in fostering sustainable economies and improving quality of life through supporting local businesses, attracting new investment, creating jobs, and improving quality of place;

May 19 to 25, 2024 as National Public Works Week in Airdrie to recognize and celebrate public works employees that focus on infrastructure, facilities and services vital to the quality of life and well-being of the residents of Airdrie;

May 20 to 26, 2024 as Alberta Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week in Airdrie to recognize the positive impact disability service professionals have on the lives of people with disabilities, their families and the overall community;

June 3 to 9, 2024 as Seniors' Week in Airdrie to honour and recognize all that seniors have contributed to making our families, communities and province stronger; and

June 2024 as Pride Month in Airdrie, raise the pride flag in Nose Creek Park between June 1 and 30 and illuminate City Hall in pride colours on June 22, 2024.
