City of Airdrie receives $50 million for wastewater line

The Province of Alberta announced July 30 that it will provide $50 million towards Airdrie’s new wastewater line. The funding is a significant contribution towards the $114 million project and comes at a pivotal time for Airdrie.

The additional wastewater line will contribute to more housing options, more affordable housing and has a projected economic return of $45 billion. As well, the project is an efficient and coordinated effort with the City of Calgary by building regional partnerships to share in infrastructure facilities. Design for the project is already underway with construction set to start in 2026 and completion expected in 2027.
