Municipal Enforcement and RCMP launch joint operation targeting loud vehicles, speeding and equipment violations

Sept. 5/For immediate release

Airdrie Municipal Enforcement, in partnership with the Airdrie RCMP, is launching a targeted enforcement initiative aimed at addressing growing concerns around loud vehicles, speeding, and non-compliant vehicle equipment throughout the city.

The joint operation will focus on identified hot spots across Airdrie, including areas such as 8 Street and Kings Heights, where residents have reported increased incidents of disruptive driving behaviour. Enforcement teams will be conducting strategic patrols and roadside inspections over the coming weeks to ensure compliance with municipal bylaws and provincial traffic legislation.

“Our goal is to reduce noise pollution, improve road safety, and ensure vehicles on our streets meet legal standards,” said Brad Tomlinson, team leader of Municipal Enforcement.

“We’re responding directly to community concerns and working collaboratively with the RCMP to make Airdrie safer and more livable.”

The operation will include:

  • Noise testing using calibrated sound meters
  • Speed enforcement in high-risk areas
  • Inspection of vehicle modifications and equipment compliance
  • Public education and awareness efforts

“This joint operation is a proactive step toward reducing dangerous driving behaviours and enhancing community safety,” said Airdrie RCMP Staff Sergeant, Chris Zanidean.

“The RCMP work closely with Airdrie Municipal Enforcement to make our roads and neighbourhoods safer places for everyone.”

Traffic or noise complaints can always be made by calling the Airdrie Municipal Enforcement 24-hour complaint line at 403.948.8888 or the RCMP non-emergency line at 403.945.7267.

Municipal Enforcement and RCMP thank the public for their continued support and cooperation.
