Exhibiting a passion for food, Arturo Gonzalez has been spreading the taste of authentic Mexican cuisine for several years in Airdrie.
Going together like sunshine and a warm breeze, his Tequila and Tacos restaurant offers up a much-needed vacation for the taste buds.
You don't have to fly thousands of miles or search hours down the oceanside Malecon to find a genuine taste of Latin American based food fare.
Overlooking Airdrie’s Bayside canals, Tequila and Tacos replicates a Mexico City restaurant.
"Most of the recipes are from central Mexico. Our taste is from Mexico City - that's why we use corn tortillas," says owner Arturo Gonzalez. "I've been in lots of places in Mexico and the most delicious food for sure is around Mexico City."
The full range of Mexican cuisine, including slow-cooked pork, Mexican sausage, burritos, chimichanga, tacos, and premium tequilas has garnered high online ratings before and during the pandemic.
"In some months during COVID restrictions we had very, very low sales. It was very slow but the business is picking up. We're surviving but appreciate all of the support we can get," says Gonzalez who opened in 2017.
"We love Airdrie and the support in this community. We have a gorgeous location looking out onto the canals - we can’t wait to serve you on our patio this summer."
