Airdrie Hosts Mid-Sized Cities Mayor’s Caucus

October 19, 2022 / For immediate release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – Mayors from 24 cities in Alberta will gather in Airdrie October 20-21 for the Mid-Sized Cities Mayor’s Caucus.

The biggest topic of discussion will be the new political landscape in Alberta and what types of challenges and opportunities it will bring for communities.

“The Mayors attending this caucus represent over 1 Million Albertans,” says Mayor Peter Brown. “By collaborating on our advocacy efforts with key issues facing our high growth municipalities, our voices are stronger at the Provincial table,” added Mayor Brown.

The key issues Airdrie and other high growth municipalities are facing include capital funding, community safety and wellness (social, safety, housing and wellness), and ensuring health services and healthcare practitioners are in place to meet community needs.

Mid-sized cities are those urban municipalities with a population greater than 15,000 people. The Caucus is held in the Spring and Fall each year and all other months the Mayor’s meet virtually to address priority issues of mid-sized cities.
