City of Airdrie encourages participation in inaugural Social Well-Being Survey

Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023/ For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie is conducting a city-wide Social Well-Being Survey from March 6 to 31, 2023, to understand resident’s experiences in Airdrie about their connection to their community, what barriers they may face to community participation and how these factors affect their day-to-day life. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for their invitation letter to complete the survey arriving in their mail in early March. The letter contains a PIN number unique to each household, which will be required to complete the survey and should not be shared with anyone.

“Social well-being is an indication of how supported, connected and included people feel in their community,” said Chris Esselmont, social planner with the City of Airdrie. “This survey will help us to understand our community and inform our actions to help us utilize our resources more effectively in order to meet any shortcomings.”

The City asks that the member of each household, aged 15 years or older, whose birthday comes next respond to the survey to ensure responses are received from a wide range of residents.

Upon completing the survey, participants will have the chance to enter a prize draw for one of five annual family passes for Genesis Place. Instructions to enter the draw will be shared at the end of the survey. The unique PIN on each household’s invitation letter is required when entering the draw, so participants must keep their letter and PIN handy until the survey and draw entry is completed.

All data and responses collected during the survey are confidential. The data will be used solely for statistical purposes and results will be compiled and reported as percentages, averages, etc., and presented to City Council and administration before the end of this year.

The Social Well-Being Survey was piloted in Summer 2022 and households that received an invite to complete the survey then will not receive a letter to participate in this survey round.
