The City of Airdrie launches the 2023 municipal census

The City of Airdrie will officially launch its 2023 municipal census on April 1, 2023, to gather important information about the city’s population and demographics. The municipal census is an essential tool for future planning to better understand the growing needs of the City.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the census, which can be completed online at www.airdrie.ca/census. Residents who complete the census online will automatically be entered to win 1 of 23 $100 gift cards to a local grocery store. The census questionnaire asks for basic information such as age, gender, number of people in the home, as well as questions about whether the home is owned or rented and if it has a separate suite. For those homes that have not completed their census online, enumerators will begin door-to-door collection on April, 20.

“Census data is an important component to the city’s decision-making process,” says Mayor Peter Brown. “This information helps identify where resources are needed and plan for future investments such as transportation, recreation, parks, community safety, economic development and more. I encourage all residents take a few minutes to complete this year’s census and help us continue to support our growing city.”

All census responses are confidential, and data is only used for statistical purposes and not shared with any other agency or organization. Census results are compiled and presented in a generalized format and will be available on the City’s website when complete. Census results from 2017 to 2019 are available to the public. Census was not completed from 2020 to 2022 due to COVID-19.
