AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On April 17, Council approved the introduction of a one adult family pass rate for Genesis Place alongside a small market average increase to Genesis Place rates and fees to take effect Sept. 1, 2023.
“Participating in recreation activities, such as those offered at Genesis Place, is important for our community’s wellbeing,” says Mayor Peter Brown “We’re committed to promoting healthy lifestyles through recreation opportunities to support that wellbeing.”
Genesis Place currently offers a family pass rate that includes up to two adults and all children in the household under the age of 18 years. The new, one adult family pass rate will include one adult and all children in the household under the age of 18 years.
“This new one adult family pass option will bring Genesis Place in line with a few other multi-use facilities in the region that include this admission type,” says Brad Anderson, Manager, Genesis Place & Arenas. “We’re pleased this new option will open recreation opportunities for more Airdrie families by making Genesis Place more accessible to one parent households.”
Fees at Genesis Place and other City of Airdrie facilities, such as the Town and Country Centre, are reviewed each year against the market average of other comparable facilities in the Calgary area as part of Council’s User Fee and Charges Policy (PDF). “This annual review is to align Genesis Place with similar multi-use recreation facilities in the area.” says Anderson.
Those wanting to change their existing pass to the new one adult family pass should submit their request ahead of their Sept. 2023, billing cycle. Requests can be submitted starting Aug. 21, 2023, by contacting Genesis Place Customer Service at 403.948.8804 or recreation.wellness@airdrie.ca. Official notices will be sent in June to ensure existing passholders are aware of rate changes at least 60 days prior to its effect, as outlined in the agreements.
