City launched first-ever interactive, online budget survey

Aug. 21, 2023/FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Airdrie, AB – The City of Airdrie is reaching out to residents for feedback on the 2024 budget priorities using an interactive online survey . This is the City’s first time using an online survey tool for budget engagement.

The survey will provide Council valuable information on what Airdrie residents consider important when deliberating the 2024 budget. It will draw a community perspective on municipal services and capital projects that Council will consider along with the many other factors and provincial obligations that they must weigh in on.

"We are very excited to launch this new annual survey that will give residents an opportunity to provide feedback on municipal services, says Mayor Peter Brown. "Community feedback is vital when Council is making budget decisions."

“The budget survey is interactive. Participants can move a slider to increase or decrease funding to each service area and then view the potential impact on their property tax bill and the services received. The anonymous data they submit indicates their priorities around spending and services,” says Shannon Schindeler, director, Corporate Services & CFO.

Although the City is excited about the release of the new budget survey tool, this is just one method that is being used this year to get feedback on the budget. Engagement sessions were held at the City’s booth at the April Home & Lifestyle show and residents will have further engagement opportunities at airdrieFEST on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023.
