LAND USE BYLAW AMENDMENTS
(Bylaws No. B-25/2023 and B-26/2023)

This public hearing is to provide an opportunity for Airdrie residents who may be impacted to share their views on a proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw.

The amendment seeks to update the standards of the Land Use Bylaw to make administrative amendments and corrections. These updates would:

  • Change Artist Studios from a Discretionary Use to a Permitted Use in all Mixed-Use and Commercial Districts;
  • Update references to the Telecommunication Infrastructure Policy;
  • Correct outdated administrative details on advertising and Public Hearings to match current practice;
  • Provide additional details on landscaping securities to clarify existing practice and establish clear timelines and expectations different types of work;
  • Removes a reference to now-deleted provincial requirements on window coverings for cannabis retail facilities;
  • Updates the map for the affected lands of Direct Control Bylaw 27 to reflect changes to property boundaries;
  • Update requirements on Carports to be clearer and more consistently applied;
  • Add a definition for ‘Large Vehicles’ and update other connected bylaw regulations for Home Businesses, Parking, and Loading Spaces accordingly;
  • Change Limited Home Business from a Discretionary Use to a Permitted Use in all Mixed-Use Districts.
