This public hearing is to provide an opportunity for Airdrie residents who may be impacted to share their views on a proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. The amendment seeks to update the standards of the Land Use Bylaw that apply to Mobile Vendors. These updates would:
• allow vendors to be considered a Permitted Use in all Land Use Districts;
• set a general time limit for the operation and occupancy of specific sites before they would trigger a Development Permit;
• otherwise make vendors exempt from needed specific approval from Planning & Development;
• reframe the LUB requirements as specifically applying to vendors located on a specific site or multiple sites;
• clarify that the LUB does not apply to the parking or operation of a Mobile Vendor on public roads;
• set out considerations for where the Development Authority may consider encroachments of a Mobile Vendor, supporting equipment, and staging area onto public property.
