AIRDRIE, ALBERTA - The City of Airdrie has renewed the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) to provide continued support of efforts to contain the risk of spreading the COVID-19 pandemic.

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie has declared a State of Local Emergency (SOLE) to support Alberta’s efforts to contain the risk of spreading the COVID-19 pandemic.
As more COVID-19 cases are being confirmed each day across the Province, any measure we can take locally to help limit spread is a proactive one.
Declaring a state of local emergency allows us to take steps to protect our community, especially our vulnerable populations, by reducing all public and private facility capacity to the lesser of 50 people or 50 per cent of their maximum occupancy including but not limited to bars, restaurants, lounges and halls.
Grocery/food stores, shopping centres, retail stores, pharmacies, offices, public transit, Alberta Health Services facilities and care centres are excluded at this time and can remain open while encouraging social distancing measures.
The safety and well-being of Airdrie residents remains the City’s top priority. Genesis Place and all arenas remain closed indefinitely. The Airdrie Public Library has also closed.
