Airdrie Fire Department introduces virtual birthday celebrations

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) realizes how difficult and challenging it must be to celebrate a birthdays and other significant milestones while social distancing during the COVID -19 pandemic.

As with many first response agencies, we have been overwhelmed with birthday drive-by requests. We appreciate the community’s support and would love to drive by each and every party, however, your first responders must remain safe, healthy and available to respond.

In order to allow Fire Chief, Kevin Weinberger and his team to stay connected with the community and be a part of the celebrations, we have developed the “AFD Birthday Program” for the public.

This innovative, virtual initiative provides the birthday boy or girl with personalized congratulations and best wishes from the AFD.

Details of how to access this program can be found at www.airdrie.ca/covidbirthday.

If you are requesting a celebration for a child between the ages 3 -12 years, have a special circumstance, or will be celebrating an even greater milestone like age 75 or older, please complete and submit an event request form and email it to fire.department@airdrie.ca.

In order to ensure that your request can be accommodated, please submit the form five (5) business days prior to your special day.

We hope that greetings from the AFD will add something special to your celebrations.
