City postpones Canada Day Fireworks

April 30, 2020 / For immediate release

AIRDRIE, AB – The City of Airdrie has made the decision to postpone the Canada Day fireworks following the gathering restrictions set by the province on major summer events and festivals.

“We continue to follow the direction set by Alberta Health to ensure we are making the best decisions for the safety of our community,” says Clay Aragon, manager, Community Services. “Although we aren’t surprised by this decision to postpone the fireworks, we are saddened that specials events are being impacted as they bring together our community in an incredible way.”

The City is exploring options for hosting fireworks at a later date and will continue to update residents as decisions are made. Earlier this week, the Airdrie Parade Committee made the decision to cancel the 2020 Canada Day Parade and Street Festival.
