May 22, 2020/ Vehicle Fire/ AFD Response Details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Friday, May 22, 2020 at 2:31 p.m., the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a vehicle fire located in the 500 Block of Tanner Drive SE.

On arrival fire crews found a vehicle on the exterior parking pad of a two-storey residential home engulfed in flames.

The fire, which was burning in the vehicles engine compartment, threatened to breach the interior of the front, attached garage of the residence.

Firefighters quickly applied water to the blaze and then forced open the hood to gain access to the seat of the fire to ensure that it was fully extinguished.

The vehicle suffered significant damage to the front exterior and engine compartment. The home was not damaged. There were no injuries to report.

Due to the vehicles close proximity to a structure four pieces of apparatus and thirteen firefighters were initially dispatched to the scene.

The Fire Prevention Bureau continues their investigation to determine final cause and damage estimates.
