City of Airdrie terminates State of Local Emergency (SOLE)

June 16, 2020/ For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie has terminated the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) effective 5 p.m., Tuesday, June 16. The SOLE came into effect on March 17 as a measure to support Alberta’s efforts to contain the risk of spreading the COVID-19 pandemic.

Safety remains a top priority for Airdrie and we continue to closely monitor the spread of the virus moving forward. The number of cases in Airdrie remains very low, allowing for the termination of the SOLE, however this does not indicate that the pandemic is over.

Airdrie has seen relatively low numbers of cases due in part to our citizens adhering to the guidelines. We thank everyone for their cooperation, patience and support and remind everyone to remain vigilant in keeping our community healthy and safe.

Citizens are asked to continue to follow Provincial guidelines including social distancing. As well, whether or not residents have symptoms, they are asked to please get tested. Testing data helps the government understand who is affected by COVID-19 and provides information needed to keep our community safe and protected.
