AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – The City of Airdrie is supporting local businesses impacted by COVID-19 by launching a Temporary Outdoor Patio Space Program allowing the use of patios on City-owned public rights-of-way and within private commercial sites until Oct. 31, 2020.
Temporary permits will be processed on a case-by-case basis. Eligible businesses include restaurants and retail stores with current business licenses, located at street level and directly adjacent to sidewalks and parking areas.
All materials and furniture used for patios must be temporary in nature so that they can be removed easily, on a daily basis.
To participate in the program, businesses first submit a complete Application Package which includes providing a plan or drawing of their intended space in accordance with program guidelines.
“The City of Airdrie continues to look for ways to support businesses and help them relaunch successfully,” says Economic Development Officer, Rebecca Nielsen. “This patio program is intended to help businesses by giving them more options to welcome customers in a safe and appealing way.”
