AIRDRIE ALBERTA – On Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 9:14 p.m., Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire in a commercial property located in the 1000 block of MacKenzie Way SW.
When fire crews arrived on scene they found alarm bells ringing and heavy smoke conditions in the interior of the Good Earth Coffee House and Bakery.
Firefighters entered the business to find that a fire had occurred but had been extinguished quickly by the activation of the building’s fire sprinkler system.
Crews shut down water supply to the sprinkler system and fans were used to ventilate smoke from the area. Adjacent businesses in the complex were inspected to confirm that they were not damaged by the incident.
There were no injuries reported.
The Fire Prevention Bureau continues to investigate the cause and final damage estimates of this fire incident. Five pieces of apparatus and fourteen firefighters were on scene.
