August 28, 2020/ Vehicle Fire / AFD Response Details

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Friday, August 28, 2020 at 2:14 p.m. the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) responded to the report of a vehicle fire located on Summerfield Boulevard SE.

On arrival, fire crews found a fully restored, late model car fully engulfed in flames on the side of the busy roadway.

One adult and two children riding in the vehicle safely escaped prior to AFD’s arrival. They were assessed on scene by AHS paramedics. There were no injuries to report.

Fire crews cordoned off the area to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic as they worked to extinguish the fire.

Due to extensive damage, a definitive cause of the fire was not able to be determined.

Damage from the incident has been estimated at $35,000. Three pieces of fire apparatus and eight firefighters were on scene.
