AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Monday, February 8, 2021 at 3:20 p.m. the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) responded to the report of structure fire located in the 800 block of Spring Haven Court SE.
Prior to AFD’s arrival all residents home at the time of the incident had safely evacuated.
When firefighters made entry into the interiour of the home they found light smoke coming from the wall behind the bathroom vanity.
With the vanity removed a small fire was found burning in the area where the wall meets the floor which was quickly extinguished with a portable fire extinguisher.
Firefighters thoroughly checked adjacent walls and ceiling with their thermal imaging camera to ensure that the fire had not extended.
Fire investigators have determined that the cause of the fire was a heat gun being used to thaw frozen water lines igniting combustible material.
There were no injuries to report. Four pieces of apparatus and thirteen firefighters were on scene.
