Bayview Street Structure Fire

April 13, 2021/ For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 2:07p.m., the Airdrie Fire Department responded to the report of structure fire located in the 100 block of Bayview Street SW.

On arrival fire crews found smoke conditions showing from all floors of a two-story residential home.

Prior to the arrival of the fire department two adult residents, home at the time of the incident, had safely evacuated to the street.

To protect first responders, power and gas utilities to the home were shut down.

Thick smoke conditions and significant heat in the basement level created challenges however, once the blaze was located it was quickly extinguished. Smoke was then ventilated from the home and a thermal imaging camera (TIC) was used to ensure the fire had not extended.

The Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) continues to investigate the cause and final damage estimates of this fire.

There were no injuries to report.

Four pieces of Airdrie Fire apparatus and thirteen firefighters were on scene. Crossfield Fire Department also attended as a mutual partner with one piece of apparatus and four firefighters.
