Aug. 26, 2019 / For Immediate Release

AIRDRIE, ALBERTA – On Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 from 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. a portion of Main Street will be closed (between Airdrie Mainstreet Square and just south of ATB Financial) to host the airdrieFEST family street festival outside of City Hall.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Urgent Care Centre at 604 Main St. SE can be accessed heading north on Main Street from Yankee Valley Blvd. Access to Urgent Care (heading south from Veteran’s Blvd) will be through Albert St. SE. An online, interactive map is available here showing routes and road closures.

“Community Development is excited to host 2021 AirdrieFEST, the key anchor festival within Airdrie’s downtown core,” says Kim Harris, community developer. “This is a free family fun event showcasing Airdrie’s not for profits, business and local talented entertainers. We are looking forward to seeing you there.”

More than 142 non-profit and business vendor booths will be set up during the street festival along with children’s activities, food trucks and live entertainment.

“It is an exciting time to welcome back airdrieFEST to our community,” says Mayor Peter Brown. “The vibe and atmosphere of the day’s activities truly showcase the engaged and vibrant community that Airdrie is. I hope to see many of our residents coming down to check out all that Airdrie has to offer.”

Entertainment highlights include Airdrie’s own Christian Hudson, who gained national fame by winning the 201 Stampede Talent Search, the World Class Taekwondo Academy Demo Team, Nose Creek Players and more.

"airdrieFest is an excellent celebration of the diversity and talent located here at home in Airdrie,” says Christopher Glass, airdrieFEST committee member. “From local businesses who make us proud to our growing arts and entertainment community we are going to see a snapshot of the very best Airdrie has offer.”
