AFD resources: 4 Apparatus and 13 Firefighters
Injuries: One adult assessed for smoke inhalation
Additional response details:
- Airdrie Fire responded to a duplex on fire in Midtown.
- Both units of the duplex were occupied at the time of the call.
- Initially, all but one adult had been accounted for. The resident has since been located safe.
- One dog and one cat remain missing.
- Firefighting efforts contained damage to the two units involved in the fire.
- Crossfield Fire Department attended the scene with two apparatus as standby resources.
- AFD crews will remain on scene to manage hot spots.
- An investigation into the cause of the fire will be conducted by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
May 16, 2022 UPDATE
- Missing pets have been located safe.
- Investigators have determined the fire is not suspicious and the loss is currently determined to be approximately $1M.
