Organizing and supporting community events

Community events are a great way to connect with neighbours, support local businesses, and discover new experiences. Whether you're organizing an event, or volunteering your time, these events help create meaningful experiences that bring people together.

Special event requirements

If you're organizing an event, you may require a special event permit. Permits are required for outdoor public events that will use or block access to City-owned roads or property, host 500 or more attendees, include food or alcohol sales, use large temporary structures, have animals or petting zoos, or require bylaw exemptions.

Event grants

Planning an event? You may be eligible to apply for City grants that could help support your initiative.

Neighbourhood block parties

Block parties are a great way to connect with the community. While backyard or garage gatherings don’t require City approval, events held in public spaces like roads, cul-de-sacs, or parks do need permission from the City of Airdrie.
