Community Safety and Well-being Plan

The City of Airdrie has partnered with the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities (CCFSC) to develop a Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan. This plan brings together key community stakeholders and agencies to form an Advisory Group to help the City and consultants identify local concerns related to safety, inclusion and overall well-being—and to implement proactive strategies to address them.

The CSWB Plan will:

  • Identify local safety and well-being challenges.
  • Prioritize actions to address these issues.
  • Outline strategies to create a safer, more inclusive, and thriving community.

The CSWB Plan seeks to:

  • Engage key community organizations in co-designing a shared vision for community safety and well-being.
  • Develop practical, solution-focused approaches to complex issues such as affordable housing, houselessness, crime and social inclusion.
  • Set concrete goals, measure progress, and adjust actions as needed.
  • Foster civic trust through ongoing communication and a focus on prevention.

The role of the Advisory Group

The Advisory Group will be a diverse group of representatives from local organizations and community groups. Their role is to:

  • Provide advice and guidance throughout the planning process.
  • Develop a shared vision and common understanding of challenges.
  • Leverage connections to support the plan’s success.
  • Promote public awareness and engagement.
  • Ensure the plan reflects community realities and priorities.
  • Identify key priorities and recommend policy changes, programs, and resources.
