Urgent police, fire or ambulance assistance
Call 911 for urgent police, fire or ambulance assistance, including situations such as a domestic disputes, crimes in progress, reporting impaired drivers, fires, or serious medical concerns.
Non-emergency RCMP matters
Non-urgent situations can be reported to 403.945.RCMP (7267). These situations do not require immediate police attendance and may include break-ins or thefts where the suspect has already left, or neighbourhood disputes such as noise complaints.
Reports can also be made in person at the Municipal Police Building (if after-hours, please use phone outside the door) or online.
If you've been involved in a motor vehicle collision involving injuries, liquor, hit and run, extensive property damage or your vehicle is not drivable, please dial 911 or the RCMP non-emergency line at 403.945.RCMP (7267).
Collisions must be reported to police if there are injuries, alcohol is involved, it is a hit and run or the total combined damages exceeds $5,000 (you may obtain an estimate to determine if a report is required).
We'll require information regarding the exact location of the property, what was vandalized and a brief description of the type of damage (spray paint, broken item, etc.).
Personal property damage
If immediate police assistance is required, call 911.
For non-urgent situations, call the RCMP at 403.945.RCMP (7267) or make a report in-person at the Municipal Police Building.
Transit bus shelter or bench damage
Damages or vandalism to transit property such as bus shelters or benches can be reported to Transit at transit@airdrie.ca or 403.948.8875.
Green utility boxes (open or damaged)
Boxes located on property (utility right-of-way)
Check the box for a company name or logo — common ones include Telus, Shaw, Fortis, or ATCO.
If there is a name, contact that company directly to report the issue.
If no name or logo is visible, please contact Engineering at engineering.services@airdrie.ca or 403.948.8835. They can help identify the utility owner or take additional steps to assist.
Boxes located in public green space or parks
Please report the issue to general.inquiries@airdrie.ca or 403.948.8800. We can arrange for the box to be inspected and coordinate with the appropriate utility provider if needed.
Flooding, water breaks or leaks
Storm drain flooding
If water pools by the storm drain, please allow 90 minutes for it to drain. The City has devices in the storm drains that allow the water to drain slowly and not overload the stormwater system.
If water is still pooling after 90 minutes, please contact Water Services at 403.948.8871 to report the issue.
Water breaks or leaks
If you see pooling water, saturated ground, water flowing in areas where it shouldn't be or see a decrease in water pressure, please let us know by contacting Water Services at 403.948.8871.
Spills
If you see or smell something you think might be a spill, report it immediately by calling Water Services at 403.948.8871.
We'll require information regarding the exact location of the spill, what was spilled and the time of occurrence (if known).
Parking
For parking complaints, please contact Municipal Enforcement at 403.948.8888.
Traffic safety concerns are reviewed by the Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC). Monthly meetings review requests regarding road safety, which may involve signage, road markings, crosswalks, traffic lights, etc.
If you would like to submit a request to be reviewed by TAC please complete the traffic advisory request form.
For street light complaints, use the FortisAlberta online form with the location or call FortisAlberta customer service team toll free at 310.WIRE (9473).
If you are experiencing a sewer backup, please call a plumber to check your sewer service and clear any blockages.
If the plumber suspects the backup is due to structural failure on public property or a blockage in the City main, call Water Services at 403.948.8871 (CCTV footage will need to be submitted by the property owner for City review).
Property maintenance complaints
Municipal Enforcement assists with bylaw compliance regarding property maintenance (e.g. unsightly yards, snow removal, etc.). Our Community Standards Bylaw (PDF) can be viewed for more information on the standards.
If there is an active attack or immediate danger to public, please call 911.
Wildlife in distress or animal inquiries
Non-bird animals in distress, please call the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation at 403.946.2361
For concerns about large wildlife (e.g. badgers, bears, bobcats, cougars, moose, wild boars or wolves), please call Alberta Fish and Wildlife at 403.297.6423
Small wildlife concerns (e.g. birds, beavers, Canadian Geese, coyotes, crows, deer, jackrabbits, magpies, pigeons, porcupines, raccoons, skunks, gophers or squirrels) can be directed to general.inquiries@airdrie.ca or 403.948.8800
Loose livestock in the City can be reported to the RCMP non-emergency line at 403.945.RCMP (7267).
Report complaints about snow, ice, or slush on sidewalks after 24 hours, snow moved from a property into the roadway, or dirt and debris obstructing sidewalks to Municipal Enforcement at 403.948.8888.
The City maintains the roads focusing on priority routes first. Road plowing status and conditions are available online with information about the snow clearing process.

Dog or cat issues
Complaints about dogs at large, bites or barking as well as cat roaming or trapping can be directed to Municipal Enforcement at 403.948.8888.
