Level 4 water restrictions begin March 9

Feb. 24, 2026 / For Immediate Release

Airdrie, AB – Effective March 9, 2026, the City of Airdrie will implement Level 4 water restrictions due to reinforcement work on Calgary’s Bearspaw South Feeder Main this spring.

Level 4 restrictions include a complete ban on outdoor water use for all residents and businesses. At this time, recreational facilities such as pools and arenas will remain open and there is no request for business closures. The City is implementing water-reduction measures across municipal operations.

“Airdrie residents have always shown up to do their part in helping our neighbours in Calgary navigate this challenging time of repairing this critical infrastructure that brings water to many cities, including ours,” said Mayor Heather Spearman. “Our indoor pools and ice rinks will remain open while Airdrie continues to do its part in being a good regional neighbour,” she added.

Voluntary indoor water conservation is encouraged as Airdrie is one of more than 10 municipalities that rely on the Bow and Elbow rivers for drinking water.
