2025 Election campaign disclosures

Pursuant to the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA), all individuals who submit a Notice of Intent to be Nominated are required to file the prescribed campaign financial disclosure statements. This obligation applies to every candidate, including those who subsequently withdraw their nomination, as well as those who self-fund their campaign activities.

  • First mandatory financial disclosure: must be filed on or before September 30, 2025. Candidates who have received contributions or incurred expenses between January 1 and July 31, 2025 are required to submit a disclosure statement covering that period.
  • Second mandatory financial disclosure: covers the period January 1 to December 31, 2025, and must be submitted no later than March 2, 2026 (in accordance with LAEA deadlines and weekend/holiday adjustments).
  • Failure to submit the required disclosure statements within the legislated timelines may result in penalties or other consequences as set out under the LAEA.
