Bylaw No. B-36/2025 amending the Airdrie Municipal Development Plan

The proposed Bylaw No. B-36/2025 amends the Airdrie Municipal Development Plan to implement the City of Airdrie Rail Policy. Development applications within 1600 metres from the rail property line would be required to adhere to the City of Airdrie Rail Policy. The Policy is based upon best practices in The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) Guidelines for New Development in Proximity to Railway Operations, which assists municipalities and developers when planning for new development near freight rail. These Guidelines have been referenced in policy in over 170 Canadian municipalities and are a tool to reduce land-use incompatibilities for development near railway operations. The Policy aligns Airdrie with these Guidelines. For more information on the policy, please visit the web page at www.airdrie.ca/railway.

Bylaw No. B-37/2025 amending the Land Use Bylaw

The proposed Bylaw No. B-37/2025 similarly amends the Land Use Bylaw to implement the City of Airdrie Rail Policy. Again, development applications within 1600 metres from the rail property line would be required to adhere to the City of Airdrie Rail Policy.
