June 26, 2026 / FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AIRDRIE, AB – The City of Airdrie is advising residents and businesses of temporary road closures and access changes for the July 1 Canada Day parade and evening fireworks. These closures support public safety for spectators, participants and emergency responders.

Parade closures for the morning of July 1:

The 2026 Canada Day parade will follow an updated route due to the Main Street Rehabilitation Project. Temporary road closures, parking restrictions and increased pedestrian activity will be in place along the route.

Closures begin at 9 a.m. on July 1 to allow for barricade placement. Full parade closures will be in effect until 1 p.m. along the following routes:

  • Jensen Drive and nearby crescents
  • Main Street from Jensen Drive NE to Centre Avenue
  • Centre Avenue from Main Street to Edmonton Trail
  • Allen Street between Centre Avenue and 3 Avenue NE

Emergency services are involved and are aware of all closures and have plans in place to reach every home along the route if needed.

Fireworks road closures the evening of July 1 at Chinook Winds Park:

Canada Day fireworks will take place at Chinook Winds Park. A no public access zone and fallout area will be in place around the launch site. Road closures and restricted areas on site will be in place from 8 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. for public safety.

Please respect all barricades and avoid restricted launch and fallout areas. Chinook Winds Park parking lots will be closed during road closures, and vehicles must remain until roads reopen. Security, Municipal Enforcement and RCMP will be on site to manage access and ensure public safety.

Temporary closures and restricted areas include:

  • Designated parking areas for security, volunteers and emergency vehicles
  • Chinook Winds Park parking lots will be closed to public during road closure (8 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.). Any vehicle parked in these lots will remain parked until the road closures open.
